Labland Biotech Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with St. Philomena College, Puttur, Karnataka on the 27th of July, 2005, to work together on Jatropha-related activities. The College has agreed to work as Jatropha Information and Dissemination Centre to promote jatropha-based biodiesel programme. The Principal of the College Dr. John C. Miranda and Dr. N. G. K. Karanth, Director (R & D Biofuels) of Labland signed and exchanged the MoU.

Interaction with farmers

Labland organised a Workshop in association with St. Philomena's College, Puttur, Senior Students' Association, Puttur and the Rotary Club of Puttur East. More than 100 farmers attended the workshop that was held in the Silver Jubilee Hall of the College on the 27th of July, 2005. Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Dr. Geetha Singh and Dr. N. G. K. Karanth interacted with the farmers on Jatropha cultivation and its importance in the National Biodiesel Programme.

Bettadapura and Karnataka State Consumer Forum, at Periyapatna, Mysore District. Dr. Sudheer Shetty initiated the discussions with the audience on Jatropha and Jatropha-derived biodiesel programme. The farmers and planters who attended the meet could clarify their doubts on various aspects of Jatropha cultivation, modalities of the contract, the price offered for the purchase of seeds and other field services offered by the Company.

Labland signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sahyadri science College, Kuvempu University, Shimoga, Karnataka on the 8th of May, 2005, to work together on Jatropha-related activities. Sahyadri science College is the first college in the state that has come forward to work as Jatropha Information and Dissemination Centre to promote jatropha-based biodiesel programme.
